Nonsuch High School for Girls is now entering its sixth year as a Science Specialist School. Our re-designation as a Specialist School has continued to allow us to enhance our provision for science education, not only for our students but for those of our partner schools as well. We have many initiatives planned for this academic year, including Science lectures for sixth formers, opportunities to lead weekly science clubs at our partner schools, and a SPLATs day when 150 students from Years 5 and 6 will visit the school to use our laboratories and equipment. During the 2009 - 2010 academic year we hope to offer our partners a growing resource of expertise, building on the successes of previous years.

Science Specialist school designation has allowed us to provide the Science Department with state-of-the-art technology. Wireless networking, interactive whiteboards and a host of interactive science software underpin the traditional practical side of science education at Nonsuch.

One of the most striking features of Nonsuch is its observatory which takes pride of place on the school roof. The Astronomy Society hosts viewings for the Ewell Astronomical Society, local Brownies, pupils from local primary schools and, of course, our own students.

Nonsuch is committed to developing as a centre of excellence for Science and Mathematics education, to leading the professional development of teachers in Sutton and to inspiring talented students to become the Science professionals of the future. Nonsuch is working closely with the Science Learning Centre London to provide professional development for Science teachers at Nonsuch and the community schools.
