Cuddington Croft pupils visit
the Conservation Area
On Thursday 23 June, two groups of 33 year 6 pupils from Cuddington Croft
visited our Conservation Area to take part in a range of activities. They
participated in a 'String Safari' where they sampled plants and collected
insects, went pond dipping and investigated whether different insects
were attracted to different colour discs and compared how acute their
eyesight was compared with a hawk!
The pupils particularly enjoyed collecting insects using a pooter and
pond dipping. One little boy was very excited when he captured a newt
and there were plenty of baby frogs in the pond. All animals were of course
returned without harm!
The pupils said how much they enjoyed the morning and their teachers hoped
that they might bring pupils again next year. I would like to say a big
thank you to all the staff who helped and our year 12 students who made
the activities such a success.
