School Uniform

All girls are expected to wear School Uniform until they reach the end of the Year 11.

Uniform can be purchased from the School Shop which is the sole supplier of most items of uniform and sports wear.  The School Shop is open daily 12.00 to 2.00 pm/2.30 to 4.00 pm during term time to enable girls to purchase uniform and a variety of other items.

School uniform and essential item list

Articles marked* are compulsory and only obtainable from the School Shop or at the nearly new sale.  Others may be purchased elsewhere provided they meet the School requirements.  All items of uniform must be named.

*SKIRT - Kilt Style in Bedford check, worn below the knee

*BLOUSE - Blue short sleeved with School logo.

*SWEATSHIRT - Navy Blue V-neck, long sleeved with School logo.

*OVERALL - Royal Blue for Science and Art.

*GOGGLES - The Department for Education recommends that all pupils should wear protective goggles when doing experimental work in the laboratory to which hazards are attached.

*APRON - For Food Technology.

SOCKS - Plain black, navy blue or white. Bare legs with trainer mini socks are not suitable.

TIGHTS - Plain black or natural. Highly patterned or fishnet tights are not suitable. Knee high pop-socks are not suitable.

*SCHOOL COAT - Navy Reversible Showerproof Fleece lined jacket.

SHOES - Shoes must be black and flat or have a sufficiently low heel that they can be worn when walking to and from school and around the building on our stone stairs (not fashion shoes). Platform soles/'kitten' heels should not be worn. Trainers may not be worn when walking to and from school nor in school. Boots may be worn only during exceptionally severe weather.

THE HIJAB - Muslim pupils who choose to wear the headscarf should ensure that it is in the permitted school colours of plain black or navy.

BAG - A sturdy bag or back pack suitable for books - Black or Navy

Hair should be one natural colour and of a style acceptable for School. Only plain navy slides, hair bands, etc should be worn. No make-up. Natural nails - no extension..

PLEASE NOTE that all items of uniform and personal property must be named. No jewellery may be worn with School Uniform except for a wristwatch. If ears are pierced one small pair of plain gold or silver studs may be worn, only one in each ear lobe. Permissible jewellery must be removed for PE. Any hair slides or ribbons must be plain, navy or black; sparkly slides and decorative flowery ties are unsuitable.

COMPULSORY

MOUTHGUARD - For use in Hockey

(For safety reasons it is compulsory for girls to wear a mouthguard during all hockey lessons. An order form for a recommended mouthguard made by O-Pro is attached. Please read the accompanying letter, particularly if your daughter is visiting an orthodontist.)

All orders for O-Pro mouthguards must be sent directly to O-Pro.


PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM COMPULSORY MARKING DETAILS

ALL Physical Education kits must be fully named with a name tape in the following locations unless they are fully embroidered with initial and surname.

PE Shirt (collar) Trainers (tongue)
PE Skirt (waistband) Hockey socks (top)
Games Sweatshirt (collar) Swimming costume (strap)
Briefs (waistband) Shorts (waistband)
Mouthguard (front of plastic box) Tracksuit Jacket (collar)

In order to check pupils are wearing their own kit, the following items must be embroidered as stated. It is recommended that machine embroidery is used, which is available via the school shop.

Embroidered with initial and surname:

1 PE Shirt - on top left side - embroidered in Navy

2 Sweatshirt - just above the badge - embroidered in Navy

3 PE Skirt - on the front of the skirt (bottom edge) - embroidered in Pale Blue

Embroidered with initials (+ name tape inside)

4 Tracksuit Trousers - Initials only just above school badge below line of sweatshirt -
embroidered in Pale Blue

5 Tracksuit Jacket - Initials only above school badge in navy

It is vital that all kit is marked before it is brought into school. This applies to any new kit purchased in the future.

The PE bag will already be printed with your daughter's name.

In addition to the PE Kit your daughter's Science overall should be embroidered, initials only, on the left side.
