Nonsuch High School PTFA
What
does PTFA stand for?
PTFA
stands for Parents, Teachers and
Friends Association for Nonsuch High School for
Girls. It is made
up of a group of all three to act together for the benefit
of the school and its students
What
does it do?
The
objectives of the PTFA are to work in the best interests of
the school and the girls’ education.
In particular the PTFA helps by
- Fund
Raising (sadly national funding never covers everything
needed to produce real excellence in education).
- Organising
Social Events – for both girls and parents.
- Serving
Refreshments at key events/meetings.
- Selling
second hand uniforms.
- Running
a Year 7 Parents Social Evening
- Supporting
the school and improving communication
Our
Yearly Calendar looks roughly like this:
September/October
- AGM
October - Barn Dance
November - Year 7 parents social
December - Christmas Fair
March - Quiz Night
May/June - Treasure Hunt
July School - Uniform sale
Look
out for details in your termly newsletter or event notification
letter. Please remember to check your daughter's bag and the
school's weekly email each Tuesday.
How
do you join?
In
fact, you don't have to join. All parents automatically become
a member when their daughter joins the school. If you would
like to help, just phone Daksha Ganatra on 01737 352957
Why
have a PTFA?
Most
of us are driven by the fact that we want to help the education
and well-being of our daughters. So we'll do whatever we can
to do just that.
What
does the PTFA do with the funds it raises?
Over
the last few years, it has (at the request of the school)
given funds for the whole range of things such as:
- School
Prize Giving
- New
Computers
- Musical
Instruments
- Camcorders
- New
Library Furniture
- Sports
Equipment
- Refurbished
the language lab
The
major project for 2006/7 is to raise funds to help with the
long awaited refurbishment of the main school hall.
What
is the 200 Club?
The PTFA organises a monthly raffle called the 200 Club. We
raise up to £6,000 each year for school projects (with
£6,000 also given in prize money). The money prizes
are given each month. For only £5 per month each parent
can buy a number/s 1-200 and a simple raffle takes place.
But if you ain't in it, you can't win it! If you would like
to win up to £500 per month please complete the response
form.
Remember,
even if you don’t win, your daughter will!
