Results
Over the last two years 100% of pupils have achieved grade
C or above. In 2004 over 98% achieved grade B or above. Out
of 36,000 candidates who sat the full course textiles exam,
two Nonsuch pupils were placed in the top five in the country.

Food
Technology (Full and Short Courses)
Food gives pupils the opportunity to work with a range of
ingredients to produce high quality food products. Pupils
will investigate how the food industry approaches the development
and production of all types of food products; this will include
the study of consumer demands and how the industry responds
e.g. reduced fat products, specific nutritional requirements,
and ready meals. Pupils will simulate industrial situations
in order to appreciate the process involved in the production
of food products including the adaptation of existing dishes.
A variety of ICT skills will be used throughout the course.

Textiles
Technology (Full and Short Courses)
Textiles can be studied via two approaches: fashion garments
and accessories or interiors. Pupils will consider the role
of the fashion/ interior/ textile designer and the various
approaches taken to designing products. This will include
studying market influences, applications of surface decoration
and the role of new materials e.g. smart fabrics in the design
of the products of contemporary markets. Pupils will use a
range of technologies including information and communication
activities.

Technology
Graphic
Products (Short Course)
Pupils will study the role of the Graphic Designer when designing
and developing graphic products e.g. perfume packaging and
pop up cards. Pupils will realise their ideas using a variety
of graphic techniques and a broad range of materials. This
will involve the study of industrial planning and production
techniques and the impact computer aided design and manufacture
on the design of contemporary products.

Products
Product Design (Full Course)
Pupils will study the role of the Product Designer and how
they respond to contemporary situations which might include
social, economic and financial issues. This will involve designing
and making products in a range of materials e.g. paper, card,
wood and metal. The course will also develop graphical presentation
and graphical skills and provide pupils with a range of equipment
and processes.
