Year 7
Food Technology enables pupils to study various topics including
kitchen safety and hygiene, use of equipment, nutrition and healthy
food choices and food tasting. Throughout the course there is an
emphasis on practical work, enabling pupils to develop their skills
when handling food.
The Resistant Materials course gives pupils the opportunity to design
and make a wooden box with removable lid and a model of a mobile
phone. These projects ensure that pupils learn how to use basic
machinery and tools.
The project undertaken in Textiles provides opportunities for the
study of ethnic pattern, fibres, yarns and fabrics whilst developing
batik and sewing machine skills.

various topics which enable them to develop their practical and
evaluation skills. These include food safety and hygiene, using
different cooking methods, tasting and testing, recipe adaptation
and meal planning
The Resistant Materials course will focus on designing and making
a plastic pen holder or clock, using inspiration from design movements
and a mechanical toy using a variety of materials, whilst developing
manipulative skills and graphic presentation.
